weakening demand of finished goods caused prices to fall in the Asian PET
market in the week ending 27. The ongoing Shanghai lockdown has had a negative impact on
finished goods demand. Market participants claim that logistical and port
problems have slowed buying in both the export and domestic markets. According to a producer, while export demand for PET chips
in bottle form from Europe and Southeast Asia is stable, domestic demand has
taken a significant hit because of the Shanghai lockdown. The performance of polyester yarn and fiber grades was poor.
