PET rose in the week ended June 8th, as
producers increased their offers due to surges in key upstream PX/PTA sectors. Due to the summer peak
season, PX prices rose from $247.66-280.50/mt to $1.512-2.500/mt CFR Taiwan/China
marker. As feedstock prices soared, this
put pressure on PET and PTA production. Although
the $120-140/mt price increase was not as severe as the previous week's, some
deals were made for PET chips in bottles. Julyloading cargo demand remained
strong. The volume sold was lower than the
previous week due to some buyers being hesitant about the sudden price rise. A major Thai producer stopped offering July-loading cargoes
