Asian PET: Prices stable despite upstream strength / China's PET inventory may increase as turnarounds end / SE Asia activity is thin during Eid al Fitr holidays

Prices for Asian polyethylene Terephthalate were unchanged during the week ending April 2. While Northeast Asia offered stable or firm bids, Southeast Asia sellers were more willing to accept lower offers due to the strength of crude oil upstream. Bottle-grade PET FOB Northeast Asia was $795/mt on April 2, unchanged from the previous week. PET FOB Southeast Asia remained stable at $865/mt during the same time period. The overall low demand for Chinese seaborne goods has led to a steady increase in crude prices and feedstocks over the past week. Data showed that in upstream markets PTA CFR China increased $2/mt from the previous week to $645/mt by April 2, while MEG CFR China grew $1/mt, to $530/mt, over the same time period.
