Prices of Asian polyethylene Terephthalate remained stable during the week ending June 4 despite a decline in upstream markets. Market sources say that despite lower feedstock costs and stable PET bottle offers, demand in China and Southeast Asia remained low. A Chinese trader stated that "Freight costs have increased too much in such a short period of time." He added, "It is difficult to close deals." Data shows that PTA CFR China dropped $6/mt in a week, to $624/mt on June 4, and MEG CFR China decreased $8/mt, to $512/mt, over the same time period.
