The price of Asian polyethyleneterephthalate (PET), which is a plastic made from polyethylene, was stable or even lower in the week ending March 19. This was due to a lackluster buying interest and an abundance of spot supplies. Bottle-grade PET FOB Northeast Asia was $790/mt on March 19, unchanged from the previous week. PET FOB Southeast Asia fell $10/mt, to $855/mt, over the same time period. Market participants reported that regional producers kept offers steady, while buyers remained onthe sidelines, despite slightupswings in crude oil prices upstream.
