said that the fundamentals of the Asian polyethylene Terephthalate markets were
stable to solid in the week up to January 11, with some sellers having secured
sales volumes in the first quarter. One producer claimed that it had sold
all its January-loading cargoes by the end of 2022, and only had
February-loading cargoes. The producer stated that although buying
interest was high before the New Year holidays it has seen it drop since some
Asian currencies have depreciated against US dollars. According to market
participants, there was also a weak demand in China's polyester yarn and fiber
markets. The operating rates of the plant's polyester plants stood at 70% at
