Chinese methanol markets
opened on May 5, with a rebound as crude oil futures rose on the EU's proposal
of banning Russian oil imports. The session ended at $8-9/mt, or $345-365/mt
CFR China. Yuan 90-110/mt was the highest traded September methanol
futures contract, closing at Yuan 2,785-2,810/mt May 5, after rising from the
previous session. Sources said that cargo
offers were limited as sellers remained on the sidelines. The front month ICE Brent crude oil futures rose $1-2/b to
$110.41-125.50/b at 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT). Due to limited trade activity, the CFR India methanol price
was stable at $380-400/mt. This is despite a large gap between buy and sale
