Restocking in east China in May 12 lifted the near-term
sentiment on China's methanol market. In afternoon trading,
domestic methanol prices were about Yuan 70-85/mt higher in east China than May
11. Prices closed at Yuan 20-Yuan 25, or
25/mt, higher than May 11. Spot cargo
talks in dollars were thin on May 12, but they are expected to pick up before
the week's close. The price of a 3,000-mt
methanol cargo was $405/mt-$425/mt CFR Korea on May 12. Sources said that the cargo arrived in Korea around the
middle of June or early July. India's
methanol market was stable despite a low sentiment on domestic markets. A domestic seller said that demand is low because ex-tank
prices have been under pressure....
