Asian Benzene Prices Rise amid Multiple Plant Turnarounds / Average operating rate among petroleum benzene plants in China at 72.46% / South Korea exported 64.117 mt benzene between March 1-10

On April 11, the Asian benzene was $7/mt higher than it was on April 10, at $740.33/mt, FOB Korea. This is due to multiple plant turnarounds scheduled from mid-April through May. Market sources reported that the average operating rates at China's petroleum benzene plants stood at 72.46 percent, which is a 2.12 percent drop from the previous week. Several production units began their turnaround during the week. A market source stated that despite several plants being scheduled for planned maintenance between mid-April and May, there are a number of turnarounds by downstream producers, especially those involved in the production of styrene.
