Asian PS prices lower due to weaker downstream demand / Tariff uncertainty weighs on demand China PS and EPS operating rates drop WOW

General-purpose polystyrene CFR China was $1,140/mt on April 16, the same as last month's assessment. GPPS CFR Southeast Asia, however, was assessed at 1,150/mt in accordance with a tradable indicator heard at $1150/mt. According to a GPPS manufacturer in Taiwan, "Downstream Demand is Very Uncertain with the Tariff Situation as the US is holding talks with countries in Southeast Asia." High-impact polystyrene CFR China was $1,230/mt on April 16, unchanged from the last assessment, and in line with the tradable indicator heard between $1,230-1,240/mt. HIPS CFR Southeast Asia, however, was assessed at $ 1,240/mt - down $10/mt compared to the previous assessment.
