US spot import polyethylene Terephthalate prices fell $30
by Nov. 2, based on lower global pricing, lower pricing, and further falls in
freight rates. Prices
were estimated at $1,578 to$1,600/mt (71-72.5 cents/lb DDP US West Coast). On the basis of stable pricing indications, domestic PET
prices were flat at $1,874-1,896/mt (85–86 cents/lb Nov. 2, based on stable
pricing indicators in the mid 80s/lb range. According to market sources, US PET demand declined
seasonally in November/December due to economic uncertainty and overall weak
demand. Due to weak demand for PET chips
and polyester, Asian PET prices were lower this week. Prices were evaluated at $915-$930/mt FOB Northeast Asia.
