Asian Ethylene Prices Fall on Bearish Sentiment■ Strike by truck drivers in South Korea leads to operating

Asia derivative issues The Asia ethylene
market prices fell in the week ended June 10, due to weak derivative demand and
an increased supply for July. According
to traders and company sources, South Korean crackers cut operating rates in
the wake of a nationwide truck driver strike. The operating rates were reduced to 75%-90% from 77%-100%
earlier in the month. On its fourth day,
the strike resulted in shipments of polymers like polyethylene, propylene, and
PVC being stopped. This has led to growing inventories at producer facilities. Market sources stated that although polymer producers have
