materialIn the week ending February 8, there was a
slight uptake in spot activity on the European high density polyethylene (EHDP)
market. Spot
activity has increased as buyers shift slightly from contractual tonnes to
account for the growing spread between spot and contract prices. According to a producer, the market's contractual intake has
decreased and consumers prefer to buy spot. Producers clarified that contractual buying was not worth
the risk of having to pay significantly higher premiums. Instead, buyers are
willing to trade in an uncertain spot market. Although production rates were low, producers tried to meet
