In the week leading up to the 30th of April, the Asian polyethylene market was a quiet one. This is due to the May Day holiday in China and other parts of Southeast Asia. Prices in China were mostly stable throughout the week. Trading picked up on April 29-30, especially for Iranian cargoes. This was due to the news of a major explosion in one of Iran's main ports, Shahid Rajaee. A trader said that the market in China has cooled down since Monday. "Iran's LDPE price went up on Sunday, but this week it is expected to go back up again," he added.
