China's domestic prices are lower than imports Buying expected to resume after Labor Day



The Asian propylene market remained steady through April 22. This was
because Chinese buyers were not willing to buy propylene from China if domestic
cargoes were more affordable and plentiful. Upstream, June ICE Brent crude oil futures dropped $1-2/b
daily to $105-110/b at 0830 GMT Asian close on April 22. This had the effect of
reducing propylene buyers' interest. Propylene
demand remained low as China-based buyers struggled with logistics issues
related to pandemic movement restrictions in many regions. The price spread between propylene and polypropylene was $40-45/mt
on April 22. This is well below the $150-160/mt breakeven spread. A propylene producer stated that he believes some Chinese
