- More than 12,000 mt benzene were traded this week- Styrene Demand is thin, Lower
Prices Expected in March

European benzene prices fell in the week to
February 24, due to weak demand from downstream sectors. 21-22 saw more than 12,000 mt traded before
liquidity stalled on the following day. Downstream, Styrene prices dropped
at the beginning of the week prior to stabilizing. The $1,075-1,115/mt
forward loading laycan was valued at 25 cents/mt. This is due to the contango
structure that exists between March laycans and February HTML1. The week saw
styrene prices drop $67-72/mt. Trading was weak this week due to
lackluster downstream demand. expectations for lower prices in March were
also a factor.
