Asia's ethylene markets were quiet on Nov.
15, as there was a gap between buy and sale indications for fixed-price
cargoes. A few offers
were made for cargoes on a floating basis at CFR NE Asia, with a premium of $30-35/mt. Purchase indications were heard at a premium between $20 and
$25/mt to CFR NE Asia. End-users remained
cautious due to low operating rates and weak margins downstream. Some said they
wouldn't consider December offers exceeding $850-865/mt CFRNE Asia. An analyst from China stated that SM, MEG and PVC margins in
China are extremely weak and producers are losing money. Therefore, it is
understandable why few people are interested...
