was deemed the peak season.- Futures
up Yuan57-77/mtAsian mono ethylene glycol prices fell
slightly on July 29 but rose on the week. Sources claimed that the polyester industry was not
operating at high rates due to unsold products. Sellers stated that MEG margins remained deeply negative at
$200-230/mt using an estimated conversion rate of 0.85 times naphtha plus 150/mt
or more than $100-120/mt if using spot ethylene prices. MEG futures traded on the Dalian Commodity Exchange at Yuan
57-77/mt, Yuan 4,410-4,500/mt ex-tank for September delivery cargoes. To date, July prices were at their lowest level since
December 2020. Talks in southeast Asia
