The US Gulf Coast spot polypropylene levels
eased slightly in the week ending July 6, amid low market activity. This was
due to the fact that the upstream monomer dropped by 4 cents per week on lower
trades. The
US export homopolymer injection grade PP was down $33 during the week to
$1,918-1,940/mt (87-88% cents/lb FAS Houston), despite rail car pricing
indications of 82 cents/lb. Based on talk
of a 3-cent premium for homopolymer grades, the co-polymer quality was also
assessed at $1,984-2,006/mt (90-91c/lb) FAS Houston. Sources indicate that there is little demand for resin on
the market right now, as buyers are reluctant to pay higher prices after years
