Jan. 10 saw benzene prices rise 7 cents,
just days after sources claimed that downstream styrene production was back in
the region following the December deep freeze. January DDP at 313 Cents
per gallon. The price deadline bids
continued their rise. January DDP last reported at 317c/gal. Styrene prices have remained stable at $1,200-1,240/mt from
Jan. 4, in line with spot trades reported at this level. According to sources, there was not much material available
for the spot market in recent days as producers tried to "catch up” from
the freeze. As European prices fell, the
netback dropped to $1,183.50-1,221.95/mt Jan. 10, making it impossible for the
arb to work.
