February 13th was a quiet day in Asian
Ethylene markets. There were few bids and offers made. Participants waited on the sidelines citing uncertainty
in downstream direction and limited supply. The weak
derivative demand has weighed down on the buying mood, with many end-users
remaining cautious. The stable demand and supply fundamentals meant
that prices in China's domestic markets remained steady. According
to market sources, Sinopec Hainan in China has begun the feed for its new
naphtha fed steam cracker. A source familiar with the matter
said that the cracker would need more time to fully operate since it was only
started this weekend. The benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha marker was up
$3.50/mt to $722.125/mt February 13 Asian close. The spread
for ethylene-naphtha was calculated...
