Asian polyethylene prices dipped in the week ending May 14. However, sources expect prices to begin to rebound following the ease of US-China tensions. The US announced on May 12 that its tariffs would be reduced from 145% down to 30%. China's retaliatory duties will also drop from 125% to 10%. As a result, Chinese domestic futures have risen in a straight line over the past few days. The trade talks between China and the US have boosted sentiments in the Chinese market this week. The dollar-denominated markets have yet to see significant increases in offer prices. In Southeast Asia, the prices remained stable despite few bids and offers.
