Demand, Thin Trading in SE Asia / Chinese LLDPE prices fall to five-year low Sinopec Hainan Petrochemical closes LLDPE Unit for Turnaround

Prices of Chinese polyethylene fell in the week ending May 28, due to the approaching summer season, and the bearish sentiments caused by the ongoing US/China tariff situation. HDPE film was down $10/mt from the previous week to $840/mt, CFR Far East Asia. LDPE film dropped $20/mt to $1,000/mt CFR Far East Asia. Data showed that both CFR-traded prices and domestic LLDPE prices had reached a 5-year low. LLDPE prices were down $30/mt from last week to $930/mt. Domestic prices dropped Yuan 150/mt and reached Yuan 7,300/mt. This decline was attributed by sources to a weakening sentiment and falling futures prices. On May 28, the most actively traded LLDPE futures for September 2025 on the Dalian Commodity Exchange dropped Yuan 59/mt from day to day, falling to Yuan 6,972/mt. Participants...
