to weak demand, Asian high density polyethylene prices dropped slightly in the week
ending Nov. 9. Some traders said that it was too risky to purchase deepsea
material as lead times are long and prices can change before cargo is
received. Major producer stated that all producers are losing money except
for the Middle East, where production costs from ethane are low. Traders
said that imports remained high as most Asian currencies declined against the
dollar. As consumers are afraid to spend too much, consumer-driven
products saw slow sales towards the end of the year. Traders stated that
they would not do back-toback sales and were unwilling to take a
