In Asia, PET chips of bottle quality rose
in the week ending Nov. 16 as producers increased their offers due to upstream
volatility. A
Chinese producer said that PX and PTA prices rose sharply in the last week.
Therefore, they raised their offers to reflect changes in raw material costs. He added that deals were limited because this is the lull season. Some market sources stated
that margins for PET bottle chips were healthy. This supports operating rates
of PET bottle chip plants at 90%-100%. A
Northeast Asian trader said that the season for turnarounds will begin soon.
This is because some plants in China usually go for turnarounds...
