The US August DDP benzene fell by
11.50c/gal, or 77.50c/gal, to 365c/gal on Aug. 5, despite an upward trend in
upstream energy futures. Benzene
imports are expected to arrive in August, which is expected to increase the
market. Benzene talks were extensive on
the day, with liquidity being thin due to the US market being under pressure
from a sharp decline in European benzene. Arbitrage
was available on paper between Europe and the US for August loading. WTI crude oil futures closed up $0.47/bl at $89.01/bl on
