- PE and SM prices continue falling- Chinese domestic price stable

November 2 saw few trades in Asian Ethylene markets. This
was due to buyers and sellers staying on the sidelines because of lower cargo
availability for December, and persistently weak downstream markets. The prices of key
derivatives polyethylene, styrene monomer and polyethylene continued to fall
daily. This further affected buying appetite as buyers expressed concerns about
weak downstream demand and negative margins. Yuan 7,700 – Yuan7,780/mt was the stable price in China's
domestic markets on the day. The benchmark
C+F Japan Naphtha marker was down $3/mt to $690/mt on the upstream markets. The spread for ethylene-naphtha was calculated at $190-$210/mt.
This is lower than the spread of $300-$350/mt that is typical for
non-integrated producers.
