In the week ending March 26, Asian polyethylene markets were quiet. Market participants took a wait-and-see approach, due to uncertainty over US tariff developments. The week-over-week price of dollar cargoes in China was slightly higher. According to sources, Middle East suppliers are trying to hold prices steady due to the tight supply caused by ongoing plant maintenance. HD film was offered at $910-$940/mt, while LLDPE was at $940-$960/mt. The Chinese central bank announced that they would reduce interest rates and the reserve ratio for banks at "the appropriate time" on March 24. This led to an increase in both futures prices and domestic spot prices. Sources said that the market stabilised the next day, but the trading environment has since dwindled.
