Asia PE market slows as buyers stay away amid geopolitical uncertainty / Prices in Southeast Asia and Vietnam are stable / China PE imports rise 9.4% MoM in February - Mar 29, 2025

In the week ending March 26, Asian polyethylene markets were quiet. Market participants took a wait-and-see approach, due to uncertainty over US tariff developments. The week-over-week price of dollar cargoes in China was slightly higher. According to sources, Middle East suppliers are trying to hold prices steady due to the tight supply caused by ongoing plant maintenance. HD film was offered at $910-$940/mt, while LLDPE was priced at $940-$960/mt. The Chinese central bank announced that they would cut interest rates and reserve requirements for banks at "the appropriate time" on March 24. However, futures prices and domestic spot price also rose. On March 26, the most actively traded LLDPE futures May 2025 on Dalian Commodity Exchange dropped Yuan 35/mt from day to day, falling to Yuan 7677/mt. Southeast Asia heard...
