As regional supplies tightened, Asian
polypropylene markets grew during the week. On the week ending at Yuan 7,925/mt, East
China's domestic prices increased Yuan 25. Trade
sources in China spoke of a continuing decline in domestic PP stocks. Several
PP plants were reported to have delayed their commission dates due to slow
buying in recent months. The average domestic plant operation
rate was 78% at the time of writing. However, some sources indicated that run
rates are starting to rise as the market anticipates an increase in seasonal
demand. One source said that downstream plants could
increase their loads since peak season begins in September. Prices should
