Market participants reiterated their
bearish stance on Asian naphtha after the week began with a calm note Nov. 7. A source from a naphtha-fed steam cracker stated
that "our forecast isn't changing" and maintained their bearish
projection going into 2023. Due to poor downstream margins the
spread between HDPE Far East & CFR Japan naphtha cargo dipped $20.88/mt
weekly to $206.00/mt at Asian close Nov. 4, which is well below the $450-$460/mt
breakeven spread. Sources said that spot trading for naphtha
cargoes wasn't very active with no tenders being received on the day. A producer
stated that although we were counting on winter demand, they have not received
any tenders from North Asia for H2 December delivery. According
