Asian PET market rangebound on subdued discussion / China's exports remain steady, but the domestic market is lagging / Market eyes Wankai's Indonesia PET feedstock sourcing

Prices of polyethylene terephthalate in Asia were volatile during the week ending April 23 as markets upstream remained volatile. Exports in China continue to be stable, and there are active discussions going on. According to sources, export prices were more favorable than the domestic market. This encouraged sellers to concentrate on overseas sales. Trading activity in Southeast Asia was low, with only a few transactions reported this week. Although discussions continued, the volume of transactions remained low. A regional trader stated that the general feeling among Indonesian buyers was that prices could still fall. According to a statement issued on April 21, China's Wankai New Materials approved plans to build in Indonesia a bottle-grade PET resin plant capable of producing 750,000 mt/year in response to the growing demand from overseas....
