said that the inter-month spreads on the European naphtha markets recovered a
little bit, but the demand was still weak. The
June/July Spread was in fact backwardation, after it had been assessed at 75
cents/mt and up $2.50-3.76/mt. The front
spread was assessed at minus 4/mt (up $2/mt) for prompt prices. In Asia, sentiment remained negative amid disappointed
expectations of an improvement in downstream demand. This has not occurred, as the June-July swap spread is now
minus 25 cents/mt from parity on May 15th. Rompetrol, Romanian refinery company, reported that its
Petromidia refinery had processed 1.279 mt of feedstocks during Q1, compared to
980,000 mt for Q1 2022. The company's good
