further $150-170/mt loss in the week ending July 15, falling $764-800/mt
CFRChina due to weakness in the downstream paraxylene sector. The domestic Chinese PTA
prices dropped from Yuan 1,096-1,150/mt to Yuan 5,574-5,700/mt exp-warehouse,
compared to the previous week. Insights
data showed that the CFR Taiwan/China PX indicator fell from $171.58-200.50/mt
weekly to $1,020-1,050/mt on July 15. According
to a market source, "Crude prices fell which resulted in a decrease in PX
prices, thus weakening support for PTA price prices." Sources say that downstream demand has been weak due to
lower operating rates at polyester factories. This has resulted in low buying
interest for PTA...
