Asian PET Prices Edge Higher Due to Upstream Gains, Cautionary Buying Ahead of Eid / China's PET inventory may increase as turnarounds come to an end / SE Asia market activity slows down as buyers switch to holiday mode

The price of Asian polyethylene Terephthalate edged up in the week ending March 26. This was supported by higher crude oil and feedstocks prices. Bottle-grade PET FOB Northeast Asia was $795/mt on March 26. This is up $5/mt from the previous week. PET FOB Southeast Asia also increased $10/mt, to $865/mt during the same time period. Market sources reported that both China's and Southeast Asia seaborne markets experienced a slight increase in FOB prices, as the upstream crude oil and feedstock cost provided support. PTA CFR China increased $7/mt from the previous week to $643/mt by March 26, while MEG CFR China grew $4/mt, to $529/mt, during that same time period.
