- Lower cost Asian imports entering European market- Continued weak demand is caused by destocking at the
year's close

The European polyethylene-terephthalate
spot markets saw stability from Dec. 14 to 14, with end-of-year stocking
remaining the main driver of a weak market. The import of PET from Europe was causing a
decline in demand. Although the possibility that recycled PET buyers might be
interested in purchasing more PET was increased, there was no increase in
demand. Dec is a month with a low trading volume due to
the holiday season. However, concerns about 2022's demand have been raised by
recessionary fears, as well as the energy crisis caused by the Russian
invasion, and other worries.
