The US August DDP-benzene price rose 7.50
cents/gal to 382.50c/gal on Aug. 18, amid support from crude oil futures. As global prices continue
to converge, the US benzene market is experiencing liquidity problems.
Additionally, freight rates are still high and making it difficult for trade
flows. WTI crude futures increased by
$2.39-3.50/b, to $90.50-95.25/b on Aug. 18, an increase of 2.71%. Benzene increased by 2% during the same period. The benzene to crude ratio was 1.78 on the date, which is
flat compared with the ratio on Aug. 17, and lower than 2. -- the level at the
balance of benzene futures and crude futures, and the 2021 average annual ratio
