Asian phenol and Asian acetone markets were
in rangebound trade in the week ending Aug. 30, due to low operating rates by
producers while weak demand. "There is no buyer demand." "The
market is very quiet. Nobody sells or buys," a Northeast Asian producer
stated. He also said that there was no need to sell phenol and acetone right
now, as operating rates are low and the production was being consumed in
captivity. Sources in China said that both the import and
export markets are quiet. This is due to domestic prices being lower than
global prices, and the devaluation of the Yuan against US dollars making
