The
European polypropylene spot market was subdued during the week of May 11,
despite falling prices. Seller pricing flexibility increased homopolymer spot
price assessments down Eur25/mt-Eur 35/mt on that day and Eur1,975/mt-Eur1,980/mt
for the week FD Northwest Europe. This was due to persistent market length and
low spot activity. Copolymer spot prices saw the same decline, at Eur2,075/mt. A trader stated that despite the lower prices, "I
believe this market is running in the exact same way as April -- limited
purchasing, quiet market." The market
is still long with a lot of supply and little consumer demand. According to market sources, sellers are offering greater
