European Toluene Spot Market experiences low demand due to low operating rates / Trading activity slows / Spot Bid-Offer Range Increases Over Week

Low operating rates led to a weak demand on the European spot market for toluene in the week ending May 9. Participants on the market said that supply on the European market was unchanged and at low levels. Demand, however, was subdued. A producer said that the market was not tight at this time because toluene wasn't being used for gasoline blending. The petrochemical supply of toluene was not balanced during the week. Trading activity remained low and no transactions were reported. According to a distributor, the spot bid-offer spread increased week over week due to the shortage of supply.
