Naphtha tight as middle distillates crack margins preferred Naphtha paper market decline following
Brent crude futures



CIF cargo prices in
Northwest Europe were 3.3% lower than expected due to tight supply. This was
due to middle distillates being prioritized at refineries. The transition to summer-specification gasoline is nearing.
This, combined with the expected strong demand for EBOB/RBOB gasoline and the
possibility of more available refinery capacity, was providing potential upside
for naphtha. Refiners will also be able to
shift to other products because middle distillate crack margins tend to be
higher than light ends. According to
market participants, the supply of naphtha was still tight in the Northwest
Europe market. The paper market saw
front-month crack spreads remain stable on February 8, compared to the previous
