August 16 saw the Asian propylene market
remain steady as buyers were still hesitant to purchase materials due to recent
drops in crude oil prices. The ICE October Brent crude oil
futures were $2.84-3.50/b lower than the previous Asian close of $93.33/b at
0830 GMT on Aug. 16. The market opinion regarding the direction of
propylene's price was bearish. A Chinese end-user stated that the
oil price was falling and propylene should follow suit. South
Korean propylene producers stated that there is a lot of downstream demand and
that oil prices have weakened buyer sentiment. The South
