Sources said that the European naphtha
price structure was still in backwardation despite reports of a weak physical
market. Sources said that there was no clear
sense of direction because the paper market was strong and the physical market
was weak. They said that uncertainty clouded the market
while investors waited to see if sanctions on Russian crude oil transport would
impact naphtha supply. A source said that while it appears strong on
paper, the physical side of the deal is weak. There is
confusion on the market about what will happen after December when Russian
[crude] crude oil insurance sanctions go into effect. Although the
November/December spread dropped $2.50/mt, it remained positive at $6/mt. The December/January
