The European acrylonitrile market was
subdued during the week ending Dec. 6. Market participants remained pessimistic
due to weak demand fundamentals. The
European acrylonitrile spot price dropped $90/mt over the week to $1,400/mt
CIF/ARA Dec. 6. Market players blamed continued weak buyer appetite for the
downward pricing pressure. A producer
stated that the market is quiet and prices are sliding down but they are not
participating on the spot market. This is consistent with the low level of
transaction activity in Europe's sector during Q4. The monthly contract price of key feedstock propylene
settled down to Eur30-32/mt. However, there was little pricing relief or
increase in demand in the European market for acrylonitrile, while production
