US July DDP-benzene dropped by 15 cents/gal
to 635c/gal on June 28, as market tightness eased. Sources indicated that
high-priced rolls of benzene were closed on June 27th, but that the market was
softening as more prompt benzene volumes were available. Due to the high demand for benzene, derivatives consumers
were heard selling feedstock benzene back opportunistically. A source said that the typical contract window period sees
the market tighten under the bullish sentiment. This month was no exception. A second source said that derivatives buyers were expecting
a significant increase in the July benzene contract prices. The volume-weighted
average trades that informed the contract was 682 cents/gal. This is a significant increase over the June contract price
settlement of 479c/gal,...
