The European linear low-density
polyethylene spot market saw little activity from Dec. 21 to 22, due to a lack
in demand and oversupply. Despite producers cutting production
to meet the shortage of buyers, the European linear low-density polyethylene
market was oversupplied. The main driver of the European
market's current state is lack of demand. Most players have shut down early to
celebrate the holidays. Some of them were out since Dec. 16. Market
sentiment was pessimistic due to the fact that demand is not expected to return
at normal levels until the second quarter of 2023. Due to lack
of derivative demand, production upstream in ethylene is operating at its
maximum capacity. There are rumors of a further decline in the
industry-settled contract prices for January. Some
