East-West naphtha spreads -- which is the
premium of the CFR Japan Naphtha cargo swap over its CIF NWE counterpart --
fell for a second consecutive day, but sources stated Dec. 22. The January East-West
spread was valued at $30/mt. February was at $23/mt. One source stated that "It seems like plenty of naphtha
has been coming over to Japan in January...we heard runs were quite
resilient." "Despite this,
January's flow is huge, perhaps a little more than necessary." Pre-holiday buying in Asia has been strong. Tenders for H1
February delivery into North Asia have boosted general sentiment. Sources say that the European market is still weak. The front-month CIF NWE naphtha Swap discount to the
