Spot European benzene demand was weak on
Nov. 4. Spot prices are softening due to the fact that we are
producing more than what is needed. Sources
said that all derivatives were not performing well, highlighting the poor
performance of cumene and cyclohexane markets, as well as phenol and styrene
market players. There was also concern about excessive benzene exports to the
US. There was speculation that between
45,000 and 50,000 mt of benzene were exported to the US in October. Two deals
were made on Nov. 4, with 1,000mt being available for quick loading dates
within the next two working days at $1,100-$1,140/mt FOB AR. A deal for any November dates was made at $1,040-$1,080/mt
