European oxo alcohols remained stable
during the week ending Sept. 29, but market participants were focusing on
October due to limited demand. Sources
said that the October settlement of the price for propylene, a key feedstock, was
near. Domestic normal butanol prices were
Eur1,950/mt FOB Northwest Europe. This was based on feedback from quiet market
fundamentals and a distributor's indication of prices around Eur2,000/mt.
Further corroboration is needed for higher pricing levels. The export NBA prices were also stable at $1,600/mt FOB
Rotterdam. This is consistent with stability in the domestic market. Domestic 2-ethyl hexanol spot prices were assessed at
Eur2,040/mt FOB Rotterdam. This was steady for the week considering that a
