On May 29, Asian caprolactams were stable at $1.285/mt, CFR Southeast Asia, and $1.285/mt, CFR Fareast Asia, due to lower feedstock prices and cautious buyer interest. The benzene FOB South Korea mark was down $13.33/mt from the previous week to $700.33/mt, on May 28. A buyer stated that "trade optimism has waned and everyone is more cautious when buying" this week. He added that benzene price movement remains a key factor. Sources said that the previous week's positive trade sentiment had boosted supply and operating rates of caprolactam, and downstream nylon-6 by around 80%-87%. Source familiar with the company's operations stated that Unv1's China Petrochemical Development Corporation's contract price was $1,300/mt F.R. Unv1 announced on May 29.
